  • Headrests were used by ancient Egyptians to support a person's neck while sleeping.

> It was used in the Old Kingdom, and continued until theGreco-Roman era.

> The role of the headrest elevates the head from the bed level. 

> The headrests were made of several materials such as wood, ivory, and alabaster.

>The headrest is magically a place for rebirth after sleep during life and forever after death.

> The headrest consists of three parts:

1- The upper part takes the crescent shape,

2-The middle part is a cylindrical shape and decorated with hieroglyphic inscriptions,

3-The lower part is a rectangular base on which an offering formula is often written.
